Greene County Habitat for Humanity Rolls Out New Wheels

Greene County Habitat for Humanity trucks are rolling out with a new look! After years of effort to acquire a better, more reliable truck for picking up ReStore donations and delivering purchased furniture to customers, Greene County Habitat has new wheels! Through the generosity of our partner Pennington, with additional help from Lake Oconee Church, a larger truck has been purchased. The larger truck allows us to make donation pickups and furniture deliveries more efficiently.

As announced late last year, Greene County Habitat has a unique and special partnership with Pennington, a Georgia-born seed and lawn care company that was started in 1945 as a small seed store on Main Street in Madison, Georgia. In celebration of 75 years in business, Pennington has provided both monetary and volunteer support to help build a home for a deserving family in Greene County. In addition, they have provided additional funds toward the purchase of the truck. To learn more about Pennington Seed, visit Pennington.com. For additional information on Central Garden & Pet Company, visit www.central.com.

Also supporting the purchase of the truck is Lake Oconee Church. In addition to a monetary donation, volunteers from the church were essential to Habitat’s ability to reopen the ReStore after closing for several months due to COVID. For more information about Lake Oconee Church visit info@lakeoconeechurch.org.

Greene County Habitat is grateful for the generosity shown by Pennington and Lake Oconee Church, allowing us to continue our mission. Every donation to the GC Habitat ReStore and all purchases at our ReStore directly support our efforts to provide affordable housing to Greene County families in need. The value of owning a home is well documented to dramatically increase the stability of both the family and our community and has been proven to change lives over generations.

ReStore donations may be made by dropping off goods at our ReStore (1272 Willow Run Road) or by calling (706) 453-1718 to arrange a pickup at your home or office.
